Baotou Aluminum Project

  • Project Overview

In the electrolytic aluminum production process, the electricity utilization rate is only 48.6%, with about half of the energy dissipated into the environment as heat. Among this, the low-temperature flue gas emitted by the aluminum electrolysis cells carries away heat accounting for about 30% of the total heat dissipation. Currently, the recovered waste heat from the flue gas is mainly used for heating domestic water and space heating, with limited consumption pathways. At the same time, there are problems such as the direct discharge of a large amount of flue gas waste heat and low waste heat utilization rates.

  • Project Achievements

The project adopts an ORC low-temperature waste heat power generation unit. Under full load operation, it can generate 3.2 million kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to saving 976 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3,190 tons. The electricity generated from the flue gas waste heat is fed back into the electrolytic aluminum production system, further reducing the manufacturing cost per ton of aluminum, and demonstrating significant economic, environmental, and social benefits!
